Designed specifically for use in Emergency Warning Systems, Warden Intercom Points (WIPs) are red phones, used to communicate between floor wardens and the main Emergency Evacuation Panel.
Warden intercommunication point (WIP) Phones are designed for use with Fire Emergency and Warning Intercom Systems (EWIS) that are Utilised in larger facilities. WIP (Warden Intercom Points) Phones allow Fire wardens to communicate with the main Emergency Evacuation Panel (Also called the Control and Indication Equipment or C.I.E.) in emergencies.
The FP0938 has superseeded the EA0404 Warden Intercom Point (WIP) phone
WIP Phones are not an normal phone in that when the handset is lifted, the WIP Firephone automatically rings the Emergency Evacuation Panel with a confidence tone audible on the handset until the call is answered. When the Panel calls the WIP, the call tone sounds through the speaker in the body of the phone. When the handset is lifted, it automatically switches from the speaker in the body to the speaker in the handset.
The WIP firephone is designed to be compatible with the Vigilant as a WIP phone for intercommunication systems for emergency purposes complying with AS2220.1 and installed to AS1670.4 at both the c.i.e. and the WIP locations.
The FP0938 is compatible with all VIGILANT QE90 systems, and is a replacement for EA0404, TB/RC, TB/SE, A2095 and A2096 models
Screw the bracket to the wall or to a standard electrical flush box. Slide the phone onto the bracket. See Figure 1 for hole locations. Note that an additional screw through the phone’s base into the wall will prevent the phone from being easily removed from the bracket.
If there is no free space above the phone, or the bracket cannot be used, drill out two or more of the slots in the corners of the base and screw it directly to the wall.
Wire in accordance with AS 1670.4. Refer to Figures 2 and 3. Note the wiring is polarity sensitive. Connect the + terminal of the phone to the + terminal at the intercom CIE. If the olarity of a field phone is wrong a fault will be indicated but nothing will be damaged. However, if the CIE (master) phone is wired with wrong polarity no fault will be indicated. Ensure that the confidence tone is heard when it is picked up.
